CTEVT expands to 164 additional rural municipalities this year

Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) marked its 32nd anniversary in Bhaktapur, Monday with a renewed commitment to widen its services to more municipalities.
The 32nd anniversary came as a day to share information on CTEVT’s notable expansion 164 additional rural municipalities of Nepal, providing new opportunities to 12848 additional graduates, every year.
Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel inaugurated the 32nd anniversary, releasing balloons in the air, flanked by Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Mahesh Prasad Dahal, Member Secretary of CTEVT Dr. Pushpa Raman Wagle and CTEVT staff and students.
“The expansion allows more students to reap the benefits of technical and vocational education,” said Minister Pokharel, adding that it contributes a great deal to generate employment opportunities for youth at home and abroad.
“Along with the expansion, improvement in the quality of technical education is equally important to ensure competitiveness of CTEVT gradates,” stressed Minister Pokharel.
Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Mahesh Prasad Dahal urged the CTEVT management to develop a strategy to showcase the operation mechanism of TVET in the three tier governments.
Presenting the progress report, Member Secretary, Dr. Pushpa Raman Wagle said CTEVT had scaled up technical schools to 1042 in 2076/2077 compared to 877 last year, and called the expansion, extensive.
“Our presence is now in 345 rural municipalities, up from 292 rural municipalities last year, which means 12848 additional students will get technical and vocational education and training. While we strive to widen TVET education in Nepal, we need the cooperation of all to further improve the quality of technical education,” said Dr. Wagle.
This brings the total enrollment capacity of CTEVT to 74863 students, every year.
Earlier in the opening remarks, Director of Administration of CTEVT, Jeeb Narayan Kafle welcomed the dignitaries and hoped the 32nd Anniversary would provide a policy guidance as well as acknowledgement of CTEVT’s role to generate skilled human resources.
The best staff and the students were announced during the anniversary, the best staffs announced were Badri Prasad Dahal, Administrative officer from CTEVT, Sunil Giri, Technical Assistant Cook, Khar Bahadur Jirel, Assistant Instructor, Agriculture, Ram Prasad Chaudhary, Office Assistant. The Sita Kumari Gharti Magar, Principal Gaur Nursing Institute was announced best of the best staff.
